Dennis Keith Lillee, AM. MBE, Australian Sports Hall of Fame

Dennis, son of Keith and Shirley Lillee, nee Halifax, is a member of the Hallifax matrilineal branch, and a collaborator in research as well as a co-petitioner, who along with wife Helen and maternal cousin Darren Halifax, worked tirelessly towards the petitioner receiving on behalf of the family a favourable verification of the Guest-Lillee-Hallifax shared bloodline, tracing back to Ms 7D14/45 and onto antiquity. Widely recognised as Dennis Keith Lillee AM MBE, he was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985 as an Athlete Member and was honoured as a Legend of Australian Sport in 2021 for his significant contributions to cricket. Regarded as one of the most skilled and consistently aggressive fast bowlers of his era. Dennis is further celebrated here for his commitment to preserving our remarkable family heritage.

Jack Joyce, known as 'The Father of Collingwood,' significantly impacted the club during its early years. Remembered to this very day by Collingwood stalwarts and it's legion of fans. He has never been forgotten by the club, and his name adorns the trophy awarded to our third best and fairest player. A versatile player, he rose to captain at Britannia before making his mark with Carlton, in the VFA (pre-VFL), rising to the player rank of Vice-Captain. Jack played a vital role in establishing Collingwood and served in various capacities, earning him a place among the club's Founding Fathers. His enduring loyalty and vibrant personality made him a beloved figure in the Melbourne sporting community, and his legacy is celebrated through the award named in his honor. He is father of Ivy, wife of Jock Simmie grandparents of Richard J. Simmie et al (William & Flora Simmie branch)

Originally, there wasn't an award for third best & fairest in the first six years of the Copeland, but that changed in 1933. In 1949, it was renamed to celebrate the incredible Jack Joyce, one of the club's founding fathers!

Mathew Guest, M.D, 2016 Olympian, 2016 Canadian Hockey team

Parents: Dr Bob Guest PhD & Sandy Guest, nee Brummitt, brother of Aaron Guest, Canadian National Youth Hockey Squad 

Matthew Guest (Dr. Mathew Guest, MD) is the son of Bob Guest, PhD, and Sandy Guest (née Brummitt). Mathew  began playing fo the Canadian national team from 2006 and during his career was capped well over 120 times. Mum Sandy, born Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, always instilled a strong sense of Canadian patriotism in her children. The father of Mathew and Aaron ( born Canada) Dr Bob Guest 1943-) was state representative U/19s for the Victorian Football League (VFL) in the Australian National Carnival in 1963. That same year, Bob was a Carlton Football Club (U/19) premierships player. Matt and Aaron's father went on to play reserves, in 1964, and gave football up to pursue higher education. Bob and Sandy's son Matt reached the pinnacle of national hockey, representing Canada at the 2016 Olympics. While Mathew and his immediate family returned to their home in Melbourne, brother Aaron remains in Canada, and went on to make his own international mark as a sportsman by coaching for many years, the Canadian National youth hockey team from 2010.

Dylan Landt, dual Nichols medal winner [back to back], for St Mary's FC, AFLNT, premiership player  (current)

Family bloodline: Guest-Landt 
Parents: Tony & Terry Landt, nee Guest

Dylan is the curator, John Guest's maternal nephew, son of Tony & Terry Landt, nee Guest. Dylan has etched his name into the AFL NTFL (Northern Territory Football League) history claiming a second Nichols Medal the leagues, highest best and fairest honour.  In 2023-2024 season playing beside his brother Jack Landt, Dylan skipped the side to win St Mary 34th premiership flag. Dylan  and Jack have consistently wore the NTFL (State/Territory ) guernsey representing the NT in interstate competition. Perhaps there is more success on the horizon for the Land boys, including Brock and Tim. Dylan, like his brother Jack, also played State cricket for Victoria in the Under 14 competition. Brother Jack Landt was also an outstanding footballer for St Mary's for many years, and Captain and Coach same time at Dimboola in the southern leagues' winter comps. As a schoolboy cricketer playing also alongside brother Dylan in the Dowling shield they both represented Victoria. Younger brother Brock Landt is now making his mark with the Sunbury Football Club, seniors, playing in the premier Victorian County Football League, the Ballarat Football League.

Bob Guest, PhD, Carlton Football Club, 1963, U19 Premiership Player & VFL U/19 State Representative

Family bloodline: Guest 
Family: Son of Leonard Guest & Doris Guest, nee Honey

Bob, was an accomplished Australian Rules footballer and played in the 1963 Carlton Football Club Under 19 premiership team and 1964  reserve team He is the father of Aaron Guest and Mathew Guest, husband of Sandy Guest, nee Brummitt.  He represented Victoria (VFL) in the 1963 Australian National Football Carnival U/19 team, playing in the ruck. The Carlton Blues recognises from their records he is the cousin of 1930s Carlton and Fitzroy player, Jack Guest (1921-1987). In turn Jack is  nephew of William Langford Guest [II] (1860-1922), former Treasurer of the North Melbourne FC in 1884, and the Club's first premiership winning coach, the VFA reserve grade, back-to-back premierships for North Melbourne FC in 1886-1887.  Bob being, William’s Langford Guest’s (1860-1922) grand nephew.

Aaron Guest, B. Eng, Canadian National Men's Junior Team from 2010

Family: Son of Dr Bob Guest PhD & Sandy Guest, nee Brummitt, brother of Matt, Guest, 2016 Olympian, Canadian Hockey Team

Aaron Guest, B. Eng, was appointed as the Head Coach of the Men’s Junior National Program in 2010.  He has a long history as a Club and University player in Australia, followed by a move to British Columbia (B.C. (born Canada), where he played on the B.C. Provincial team, and the Vancouver Hawks Hockey Club. Prior to coaching the Canadian National Men's Junior Team had a long list of coaching experience including: specialty coach for several Club Teams in Australia (1997-2003), the Alberta, Women’s’ U18 and Senior Team at the National Championships, and assistant for the Junior Men’s and Senior team for targeted training camps. Aaron was also Head Coach of Canada’s U17 Pan Am Championship Team that participated in the Pan Youth Championships in Mexico in 2009.  

Ray Sweeney, Collingwood FC, Under 19, Goal Kicking Champion & Victorian State Water Polo Player

Family bloodline: Sweeney-Guest 
Parents: Norman Francis Sweeney & Lorraine Guest 1930-2019

Ray was an exceptional athlete who started competitive football in 1966 with Reservoir Colts, playing until 1970. In 1971 he joined Collingwood Football Club, competing in the U19 VFL He also excelled in water polo, representing Victoria in the national U18 championships. Notably, Ray set a record of 215 goals for Collingwood's U19 team and uniquely kicked 11 goals on two occasions.

Ray Hay, Co-Captain, Western Australia, U16s School Boy Football Squad, National Carnival 2023

Family bloodline: Hay, Hay-Hallifax, Hay-Simmie 
Parents: David and Mel Hay, nee Dziuba.

Riley Alexander Hay was selected as co- Captain of the Western Australia Under 15 Schoolboys team that played the national carnival in Ballarat, Victoria in July 2023. He was easily observed in repeatedly helping settle his team mates in a very tight  U/15 National Championship Grand Final match when WA went head to head with the Victorian metro team. Both teams were undefeated after the early rounds and West Australia were gallant in defeat in a tightly fought match, Victoria 4 goals 11 behinds, 35 points defeated Western Australia, 5 goals straight, 30 points. Riley has joined the Subiaco development squad where his father is one of the development coaches. Dad David Hay, is found to the right of picture.

Family bloodline: Guest 
Family: 2nd born son of John Kidd Guest & Matilda Guest, nee Connolly & lineal ancestors of Hall of Famers, Bob Guest and sons Matt and Aaron; and great uncle of Dylan and Jack Landt, sons of Terry Landt, nee Guest.

Three brother Guest, Will, Jack and Archie all played for the North Melbourne Football Club. Jack Guest (1860-1922) is North's first ever premiership coach and older brother , also became the treasurer of the club and its VFA delegate before he became a VFA first-20 goal umpire. Younger brother Archie went on to play from 1887-1891 with rival Williamstown Football Club.

Bill Guest is the grandson of John George Guest  1884-1954 and cousin of site contributor Tom Guest. John built the Guest Furniture business from 1918 and extant today. Bill took charge of Guest Furniture later Guest Group and grew the business in the late 20th and early 21st century.  His parent's are Alan Wyatt Guest 1925-2022  and Joan Guest, nee Lund.  Bill went on to sit on the board of the Melbourne Football Club as a representative of Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) members in 1992. He served as Vice-President of the Demons from 1995 to 1996, and from 1998 until May 2001. This is when he resigned as part of a peace deal upon the appointment of Gabriel Szondy to replace Joseph Gutnick. Bill's role in the proposed merger with Hawthorn was controversial due to members of his staff buying memberships before the cut-off date so they could vote in favour of the merger. The pro-merger camp alleged that Gutnick's side engaged in the same practices (Sources: Age 1st May 2001; Herald Sun, 25th May, 2001).
