Guest's - Allison Maternal Heritage
Genealogist Doug Brazier made an extensive study of the Allison family branch in 1994. This digital copy resulted from salvage of perhaps one of the few remaining copies. Inside, Doug centres his research mainly on the genealogical legacy left by Edward William Allison, one of five brother who migrated from Camberwell England during the mid 19th century. Not long after the brothers arrived Allison Funeral Parlours began popping up across Melbourne, continuing by practice their father's funeral service dynasty in Australia. One of these brothers, James Allison 1837-1879, and wife Caroline, are the parents of Annie Caroline Guest 1867-1922, wife of John "Jack" Henry Guest 1862-1922. This Jack Guest is the great uncle of John L. R. Guest. The excellent research by Doug is most valuable to the curators cousins, who are direct descendants of Jack and Annie Guest, nee Allison. The same must be said more so, for the extended family of the curator's research collaborator, John Allison of Ballarat. It is he, John as well as that of his siblings and cousins, and all of their offspring who descends from Annie's brother, Albert Henry Allison.
